DJ Saint James

Assistant Principal
Athletic Director

I am thrilled and honored to join the Lincoln community as your new Assistant Principal and Athletic Director! This is an exciting new chapter, and I cannot wait to work alongside our incredible students, families, and staff to create meaningful experiences both in and outside the classroom.

Originally from the Bay Area, California, I grew up immersed in sports—playing baseball, football, and soccer throughout my youth. However, my true passion has always been wrestling, a sport that continues to be an important part of my life today. These experiences shaped my understanding of teamwork, perseverance, and the transformative power of athletics in young people's lives.

My educational journey took me from UC San Diego, where I earned my undergraduate degree, to Johns Hopkins University for my Master's in Education, and finally to Colorado State University, where I completed my Educational Leadership degree. I began my teaching career in Memphis, Tennessee, as a 7th grade math teacher through Teach for America, and quickly discovered my calling in middle school education.

My passion for learning and cultural exchange led me into international teaching, where I spent three years in Beirut, Lebanon, teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English. I then moved to Prague, Czech Republic, for six wonderful years, where I taught IB MYP Math, Language and Literature (English), and Individuals and Societies (Social Studies). Most recently, I spent two years in Bogotá, Colombia, teaching middle school math and science. Throughout these diverse experiences, one thing has remained constant: middle school is where I belong. The energy, curiosity, and growth that happen during these pivotal years inspire me every single day.

Beyond the school walls, I love to travel and explore new places and cultures with my amazing partner, Melanie. I'm also an avid runner who enjoys the challenge of marathons, and I always have a good book in hand. These experiences continue to reinforce my belief in the importance of creating active global citizens who are prepared to make a positive impact in our interconnected world.

I am excited to bring my passion for education, athletics, and community-building to Lincoln. Together, we will continue to create an environment where every student can thrive academically, athletically, and personally.
