Katie Buttram

6th Grade Language and Literature Teacher

I have been teaching English at Lincoln since 2016 and I began teaching in 2001.  I earned my degree in English Education at North Dakota State University (Go Bison!) and my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading from New Mexico Highlands University.  I grew up in a small town in North Dakota. My Dad says that I always had "itchy feet" which have taken me to schools in Honduras, Mexico, Arizona, and New Mexico.  Though the schools changed my love of middle school students and the power of stories have remained constant.  I am honored to help students through such years of explosive growth.  I believe that reading and writing help students understand what it is to be human giving them the empathy they need to help to make the world a better place.  When I'm not teaching, you can find me outside doing something active with my husband and two sons.
