At Lincoln, we truly believe that music is a language everyone can speak, and we want to make sure you have the opportunity to be a part of our music family! We offer three different musical opportunities. These courses are year-long and at least two concerts are performed every year. Students are encouraged to take their gained knowledge of music and apply it to different opportunities that are made available in and out of class. Outside of the three traditional classes, students may choose to start extra music clubs, which are always encouraged!
Instruments are available to borrow from the school for families that need this option. The instrument can be used by the student as long as they are at Lincoln. Also, students that choose to play a large instrument like bass or tuba are given an instrument at school and a second instrument to keep at home.
Band
Students start in 6th grade on a traditional band instrument. They can choose between flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, and percussion. More instruments are available when students advance in 7th and 8th grade. Each band is grouped by grade level and presents 3 performances a year.
Orchestra
Students start in 6th grade on a traditional orchestra instrument. They can choose violin, viola, cello, and bass. In 6th grade we start from the very beginning, but students with existing string experience will find they have lots to learn as well! 7th and 8th grade orchestra is combined. Each group gives 3 performances a year.
Choir
There is always a place for you in choir! Students can join choir at any grade level and will find the learning curve is quick! In choir, we focus on building our confidence with good vocal technique. We sing a wide range of music… some music you might know that you like, and some music that you don’t know you like yet!
