I started teaching at Lincoln in 2012, and I absolutely love it here! I genuinely feel that the staff and students are some of the most caring and reflective humans I have ever spent time around. I wear a variety of hats at Lincoln; along with being a 7th grade science teacher, I am the 7th grade Team Leader, I am a volleyball coach, and I am the co-director of COPACK (Colorado Promotes Achievement, Character, and Kindness- a program to promote perseverance). I honestly feel lucky that I get to wake up and spend time with these students in a variety of ways!
High School: Rangeview High School
Bachelor's Degree (B.S. in Natural Sciences, Biology Education Concentration): Colorado State University (Go Rammies!)
Master's Degree (M.Ed. in Educational Leadership): Concordia University
My STUDENTS. But it is important to me to try and teach kids to be good humans!
Pride and Prejudice- Jane Austen
Catcher in the Rye- J. D. Salinger
5: Where Will You Be Five Years from Today?- Dan Zadra
Outliers- Malcom Gladwell
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (series): Stieg Larsson (My taste in books is all over the place).
I have many hobbies! They include:
- Playing volleyball/softball/football (or any sport, really)
- Exercising (CrossFit!)
Again, the students. They're why I'm here! But I also really enjoy the staff at Lincoln.
"You cannot teach a crab to walk straight." - Aristophanes
"I don't want to get to the end of my life and have only lived the length of it. I'd like to have lived the width of it as well." - Diane Ackerman
"It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation." - Herman Melville
"Whether you think you can, or you think you can't-- you're right." - Henry Ford
I've taught 8th and Newcomer Science, but for now, I have a home in 7th grade science!
It is PINK!
My classroom is a reflection of me and my students. It is a great combination of science nerdiness and tons of fun.
