About Me
Biographical Sketch:

Hi! My name is Kyla Walker and I am thrilled to be a teacher at Lincoln Middle School . Since 2010, I have had the opportunity to call myself a Lincoln Lancer.  While at Lincoln Middle School, I have  taught 7th grade English Language Arts,  8th grade US History, and 8th grade Humanities.  Before moving to Lincoln, I taught preschool at Fullana Learning Center and Teaching Tree Early Childhood Center as well as 6th grade English/Language arts.  Regardless of the age or content I  LOVE teaching and the energy that students bring to my classroom. I am  a graduate of Ball State University in Muncie, IN.  I have my degree in English/ Language Arts and a minor in US History.

As a lover of books and writing, I can not imagine a better job than teaching US History and Humanities to 8th graders.  Every day is spent exploring the primary sources and artifacts that were left behind by our forefathers, uncovering the meaning of texts from days gone by, and writing to increase our comprehension.  Students in my class have the unique opportunity to be explorers and adventurers, to partake in simulations that make history come alive, and to truly experience what it means to be an IB learner.

Please feel free to stop by any time or to call.  My classroom is an open place and welcoming to all

Educational Background:

I graduated from Ball State University (go Cards!) in 2005.  While at Ball State I had the opportunity to live abroad and study Fine Arts at Westminster University in London England.  I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in English Secondary Education with a minor in US History.  I look forward to getting back into the classroom and becoming the student again sometime soon :-)
