This will be my sixth year back at Lincoln Middle School. I started my teaching career here at Lincoln in 2001 as a new teacher. I spent three years here before moving to New Jersey and teaching High School for two years. I then spent six years at home with my three boys. I was very excited to return to Lincoln in the 2013-14 school year. In addition to teaching 7th grade Individuals and Societies I will be the building support person for our ELD program. I have recently earned my Masters Degree from CU Boulder and I am look forward to working with an supporting Lincoln amazing emerging bilingual students.
I received my Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education, Social Studies from Slippery Rock University. Slippery Rock is a Pennsylvania State University located in western Pennsylvania. The University began as a teaching college and has continued to expand its education program. I am currently working on a Masters degree from CU Boulder in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education. I will complete my masters program in the spring of 2018!
I love learning about the history and diversity of our world. I enjoy sharing this passion with my students. It is exciting to explore and study places we have traveled to and learn about places we hope to visit. I also enjoy teaching about history and introducing our students to the different cultures that represent our beautiful and diverse world.
I love to read any historical fiction. Some of my favorites are Far From the Madding Crowd and For Whom the Bell Tolls.
Outside of school, I love to read, mountain bike, hike, and spend time with my family.
I love Lincoln because of our students. I truly believe that our middle school has the most open minded, caring and supportive group of young adults. I am continuously amazed by how much our students care for one and other.
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world". -Nelson Mandela
Throughout my nine years of teaching, I have taught, 9th grade World History, 7th grade Geography/Social Studies, and 7th grade Colorado History. I currently teach 7th grade Social Studies.
In my classroom we establish a culture of open mindedness, caring, inquiring, and risk-taking. We study the world by examining both the physical and cultural geography of each region. We use technology to visually explore regions. We use writing to communicate our ideas and thinking about different cultures and regions. We use art to creatively express our understanding of the world beyond Lincoln Middle School.
