I have been teaching for 17 years and this is my tenth year at Lincoln Middle School! My master’s degree is in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction. I have a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Northern Colorado with a Middle Grade Licensure.
Originally from central Washington, I grew up in Pine, Colorado. While in high school, I realized how much I liked teaching people to swim, tutoring in mathematics and loved working with younger students. It was not until I was involved in a mentoring program, WyldLife, that my passion for walking alongside middle school students became apparent. When working with middle schoolers, I have an invitation to create, empower, build important and meaningful work through the diversity and unique complexity of the young adolescents P.I.E.S. (physical-integelicatical-emotional-social development). I enjoy learning about research-based best practices, how to provide collaborative inquiry and program improvement to emphasize the importance of advocacy for attuning to the special needs of young adolescents. I finally get to love on children on a daily basis!
My husband and I can be seen at local farmer’s markets, hiking on the trails of Lory State Park, camping up the Poudre, playing board games, traveling, snow shoeing, or just holding hands. I also love playing and being around water: learning and saving marine life, scuba diving, or officiating a swim meet at EPIC. I have coached middle school swimming for years and would love to start a team here at Lincoln!
I really like the diversity of students and staff here at Lincoln. With so many different backgrounds, beliefs, and cultural knowledge that this is the place where ACCEPTANCE and CARING is at the forefront of who we are at Lincoln. We offer a variety of classes that Lincoln students get to be a part of. In addition, I love the opportunities students have to be recognized for their accomplishments and the multiple travel opportunities Lincoln students have to choose from.
