I was born in Montana, but moved to Colorado when I was two years old and have been here ever since. I have been teaching at Lincoln since 2006 and love being a Lancer! I live here in Fort Collins with my husband Jeff and our two children - since Jeff has coached for the Lincoln wrestling team and my children both attended Lincoln, we really are a Lancer family!
I earned my English degree and teaching license from Colorado State University, and my mater's degree in literacy from the University of Northern Colorado. I am trained in IB, Gifted and Talented, and AVID.
I have been teaching students in one way or another since the age of eighteen, and cannot imagine a better job. My favorite part of teaching is seeing the amazing ideas and talents that students are able to show when given the tools and the opportunity.
I love so many books, and will read books I love over and over. A few I love are Emma, The Lord of the Rings, and The Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. It is so much fun to share this love of reading with my classes and with the 6th grade lunchtime book club!
Outside of school and my family, my passions are reading, dance, and theatre. I have been involved in hundreds of theatre and dance productions in the Denver and Fort Collins area as a teacher, performer, choreographer, director, or stage manager and was a performing member of the Canyon Concert Ballet Company for 20 years. I teach a few ballet classes at Canyon Concert and do choreography for the CCB Youth Ensemble group in the summers. I continue with my ballet practice and will occasionally I will come out of "retirement" for a performance - especially if I get to perform with my family!
What do I like most about Lincoln? Lincoln is truly a family of amazing students and staff. We are unique, diverse, fun, energetic, enthusiastic, caring!
"Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you - not because they are nice, but because you are."
Over my years at Lincoln I have taught 6th, 7th, and 9th grade English, speech, drama, and musical theatre. Currently I teach 6th grade Language and Literature..
I want students to feel welcome, comfortable, and safe in my classroom. Every day we will read, write, study, create, and share!
