Season Summary

The Lincoln volleyBALLERS, both 7th and 8th grade, had a remarkable season- one of the best we’ve ever had!  This season we primarily worked on how to move our feet and get good passes to our setters.  We even had a guest coach- our athletic director, Tony Garcia, took one whole practice to work with the girls!  During the season, we did a lot of team building, and all girls received matching athletic socks, we attended a CSU game, and we made pink breast cancer awareness jerseys for our last home game in October.

At the 7th grade level, a new district championship tournament was created this year, which only the top four teams were invited to.  Even with the addition of Resurrection Christian to our league, our girls made top four!  We played the number one seed in a single elimination playoff round and lost both in close games, but the girls ended on a high note with many personal bests and overall their best team play this season!  We had a number of staff members, our 7th grade counselor, our athletic director, and our principal attend our match, bright and early at 8am on a Saturday of an extended weekend.  It was a wonderful turnout and experience for all!  Overall, they placed fourth out of ten.

At the 8th grade level, the girls had a slow start to their season, but won their last three matches which placed them in the middle of the standings and playing at the silver level bracket.  Their tournament was for all teams, and the girls played in a total of four matches.  The girls played the second and third seed, and beat the third seed which moved them into the gold bracket and the semi-finals!  The girls played an exciting fourth match against Lesher, and even with much of their original team gone, no subs, and the lebarro playing all six positions, the girls beat Lesher in two sets, ultimately placing third out of ten overall.  The staff members, athletic director, and principal witnessed the exciting events as well- also ending on a high note!

Coach Rice and Coach Wren had an amazing and unparalleled season with the girls, and are already looking forward to next year!
