Gifted & Talented....Thinking outside the Box!
A student who is identified as gifted in Poudre School District remains identified as gifted until graduation. We continue to monitor these students and provide them with continuous and systematic services.
PSD middle schools have decided that GT students benefit from being part of the IB community in their heterogeneous classes. Lincoln teachers use the IB model to guide their instruction. Students are expected to develop and demonstrate higher level skills in reading, writing, thinking, questioning and risk-taking. Students in 6th grade have access to accelerated math classes as well as extended learning opportunities. Identified GT students will be guided to register for challenging classes in 7th and 8th grades.
All students labeled as gifted and talented set goals with help from teachers, parents and support staff. These goals become part of their Advanced Learning Plans. ALPs provide a strength and interest-based learning guide for curriculum, instruction and social-emotional development for students. Click here for more specific information on ALPS.
Lincoln offers opportunities, atmosphere, materials and instruction to elevate identified gifted learners to a higher level of performance and engagement. Here is an example of what we’ve offered in the past: Extended Learning Opportunities (Period 9) Robotics, Jazz Band, Empty Bowls, etc... After School Activities Science Olympiad, Open Studio, Math Counts, etc...
